Celebrate Wellderly Week with The Haven at Newnan!
We’ll be celebrating Wellderly Week here at The Haven at Newnan, from March 17-21. If you’re not familiar with Wellderly Week, you’re in the right place!
What is Wellderly Week?
Wellderly Week, observed in the United States during the third week of March, is a time designated for promoting wellness for seniors, as well as encouraging community members to come together to help our seniors live their best, vibrant lives! *
The goal of Wellderly Week is to shine a light on what it means to offer seniors holistic wellness – prioritizing activities, meals, and opportunities to enhance engagement, fulfillment, and vivacity.
Nourishing Mind, Body, and Soul
We pride ourselves in seeking ways to enhance the lives of our residents all year round through our Nourish initiatives. By emphasizing the importance of nurturing every resident’s mind, body, and soul, we practice the principles that Wellderly Week focuses on each day! We do this by intentionally curating ideal activity offerings, nourishing dining options, and by cultivating a friendly and warm atmosphere.
How can I celebrate Wellderly Week?
If you want to celebrate Wellderly Week, focus on activities that leave seniors feeling refreshed, invigorated, seen, and loved. We encourage activities that involve a social element, and something that gets our brain and body muscles moving! Here are a few ideas to try:
Garden Club – spring is the perfect time to begin preparing your community garden beds! Gather friends to prep and plant. Their hard work will provide enjoyment now and, in the future, as you all get to enjoy the blooms of your labor!
Knit & Crochet Group – knit and crochet are wonderful, tactile hobbies that promote healthy brain function, as well as the perfect backdrop for an afternoon of conversation and laughter! You could even incorporate an intergenerational activity so young and old can connect over a shared love of this timeless craft.
Step Challenge - you may already have a walking group, and who doesn’t love a little competition? Get active with a friendly step challenge – see who can take the most steps during Wellderly Week!
Special Dinner – begin or end Wellderly Week with a special meal to celebrate senior wellness, and maybe even try a new recipe!
Activities like this are great because they offer a range of benefits for seniors, emotionally, mentally, physically, and spiritually. Mental health is equally as vital as physical health, so try to ensure that your Wellderly Week plans include activities that provide this type of all-encompassing benefit.
Wellderly Week serves as a wonderful reminder that life should be enjoyable at every age!
